Community Support
Tanunda Town Band relies upon the support of the community and Barossa Council, and gives back to the community where it can.
The band regularly appears in the Barossa community for events which have recently included:
Declaration of Vintage
Tanunda Christmas Parade
ANZAC Day
Carols by Candlelight
Tanunda Hospital Rededication (pictured right)
North East Big Day Out celebration, as part of the SA Government Drought Relief Assistance Scheme.
Crows Carols - supporting the Adelaide Football Club Crows Foundation
Tanunda Show
Barossa Vintage Festival
Recently the band organised a fundraising effort for victims of the 2009 Victorian bushfires in South-Eastern Australia, hosted at Seppeltsfield Gardens (pictured left). With the impetus of band’s secretary Gwen Sando and president Wes Liersch the event soon evolved to become a major community event, with support from SA Police, Country Fire Service, Red Cross volunteers, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Barossa Valley Sound & Lighting, Soroptimist International, and Kiwanis Club. Music for the day was supplied by Tanunda Town Band, Bee-Ives Duo, Faith Lutheran School, and the KGB Big Band. Fundraising efforts for the day resulted in over $2600 collected for the rural communities affected by Black Saturday.
